Toronto’s Zeidler Partnership has been selected by the Assuta Medical Centers Ltd. of Israel to design a 400-bed, 600,000 sf diagnostic and procedures hospital in Tel Aviv. It will be constructed in two stages and will include 24 surgical suites. The proposed opening date for the first phase is 2007. The hospital is located in the northern sector of Tel Aviv on Habarzel Street and backs onto Hayarkon Park situated on the Yarkon River.
An intensive visioning and design charrette with the Assuta Client Team lasting several days was held at the Queen Street offices of Zeidler Partnership in Toronto at the beginning of March to kick off the design process. The hospital program has been developed by Metis Advisory Group. Five massing options were considered, and the project is currently in the schematic design phase.
