World Architecture Festival call for award submissions

The World Architecture Festival (WAF) is calling for award entries from North American architects and related design and development professionals to submit their projects by May 22, 2015.

Architects in North America are invited to follow in the footsteps of last year’s award-winning Canadian practice 5468796 Architecture + Number Ten Architectural Group, whose innovative new structural addition to the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria won the Future Projects: Competition Entries award. It reimagines the gallery as a village of small pavilions arranged around an original historic mansion enveloped by the surrounding landscape, which cascades through the site. This is softened with a “choreography of gardens and new public spaces which weave the property back into the fabric of the surrounding landscape.”

WAF provides not only the chance to win global architectural accolades, but also opens the door to international media coverage, peer and client recognition, and the potential for exciting new commissions all over the world.

The jurors said of the winning scheme for the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria: “The winning project is creative, new respects the old, and the use of material references the existing garden but not literally or metaphorically.”

This year’s World Architecture Awards will once again be hosted in Singapore at Suntec City from November 4-6, 2015—AECOM’s impressive steel-framed Convention and Exhibition Centre. The World Architecture Festival Gala Awards Dinner will take place on the evening of Friday, November 6, 2015 where category winners will compete for the ultimate accolades of World Building of the Year and Future Project of the Year 2015, which have the power to transform careers, promoting your work to a global audience.

Shortlisted entrants will compete for category prizes on the first two days of the Festival. On the final day, category winners will present again to juries of experienced and respected professionals, who will decide on the World Landscape, Future Project and Completed Building of the Year Awards.

All entries must be submitted in English by May 22, 2015.
