The goal of Ontario Wood WORKS! is to promote the use of wood and wood products in construction projects, and to acknowledge the contribution of wood-use advocates and industry leaders. As such, they have selected the winners in their annual awards program, the details of which follow.
The Ontario Wood Award was won by the Westhill in Waterloo, by Robert J Dyck Architect & Engineer Inc.
The Green Building Wood Design Award went to Algonquin College – Perth Campus by GRC Architects Inc. and Adjeleian Allen Rubeli Inc.
The Interior Wood Design Award was given to Lululemon Athletica – Yorkdale Shopping Centre in Toronto by Quadrangle Architects, Brothers Dressler and Lululemon Athletica.
The Residential Wood Design Award was claimed by Kennisis Lake House in Haliburton by Altius Architecture.
The Multi-Unit Wood Design Award went to Orchard Design Studio with GB Architect Inc. and Strik Baldinelli.
The Institutional/Commercial <$10 M Wood Design Award was given to the Holy Spirit Church in Barrie by
Larkin Architect Ltd. and Stantec Consulting.
The Institutional/Commercial <$10 M Wood Design Award was claimed by Oak Ridges Community Centre in Richmond Hill by Perkins + Will Canada Inc. and Stantec Consulting.
The Northern Ontario Excellence Award went to Batchewana First Nations Health Facility in Rankin Reserve by EPOH Inc. Architects Engineers Interior Design and STEM Engineering Group Inc.
The Jury’s Choice Award was given to the Local Church of the Saints in Toronto by CY Lee Architects and Blackwell Structural Engineers.
The Engineer Wood Advocate Award was claimed by David Moses of Moses Structural Engineers in Toronto.
The Architect Wood Advocate Award went to CS&P Architects in Toronto.
And finally, the Wood Champion Award was given to Steve Boyd of Quaile Engineering in Newmarket.
