At a gala event on December 4, 2013, 18 projects were recognized in Quebec City’s urban and architectural awards program, Les Mérites d’architecture de la Ville de Québec. The awards program, currently in its 10th year, recognizes architectural excellence and projects that add to the urban landscape.
The 2013 winners are as follows:
The People’s Choice Award went to the Headquarters of La Capitale groupe financier located at 625 rue Saint-Amable in the arrondissement of La Cité-Limoilou designed by Coarchitecture/Lemay & associés and built by Verreault construction/BPR.
In the Single-Family Residential (new construction) category, Résidence 2G in the arrondissement of Sainte-Foy-Sillery-Cap-Rouge took the top award. The project was designed by Éric Pelletier architectes/Gilles Guité architecte and built by Nova Construction.
In the Multi-Family Residential (new construction) category, Cohabitat Québec located at 1650 rue Louis-Jetté in the arrondissement of La Cité-Limoilou won the award. The project was designed by Tergos Architecture et Construction Écologique – Mainguy Verge Architectes and built by LYS Construction/Les Constructions Pierre Blouin inc.
In the Residential Renovation category, Monsieur André Morin and Madame Suzanne Bérubé’s property at 1857 rue La Fontaine in the arrondissement of La Cité-Limoilou was honoured. The renovation was designed by Morin and Bérubé along with consultant architect Martin Tanguay. Construction Beauport Satisfaction built the project.
In the Heritage Restoration on a Heritage Site category, two projects were recognized: Monsieur Vincent Drolet’s property at 2430-2432 avenue Royale in the arrondissement of Beauport by BFH architecture and M. DUBEAU inc. as builder; and Arténia inc. et Inversion inc. at 67 rue D’Auteuil in the arrondissement of La Cité-Limoilou, by Arténia inc./Inversion inc. and Construction Pierre Blouin inc. In the same category, the residence of Monsieur Gilles Lauzière and Monsieur Martin Laroche at 8220 Le Trait-Carré Ouest in the arrondissement of Charlesbourg received a Mention.
In the Heritage Restoration on a Non-Heritage Site category, the award was won by Coopérative Le Grands Rangs at 199 rue Saint-Joseph Est in the arrondissement of La Cité-Limoilou, designed by Tergos Architecture et Construction Écologique—Mainguy Verge Architectes and constructed by Construction Hamel et Alain inc./Tergos Architecture et Construction Écologique.
In the Commercial/Industrial (new construction) category, the award was claimed by the Headquarters of La Capitale groupe financier at 625 rue Saint-Amable in the arrondissement of La Cité-Limoilou, designed by Coarchitecture/Lemay & associés and built by Verreault construction/BPR.
In the Commercial/Industrial Renovation category, 500 Grande Allée located at 500 Grande Allée Est in the arrondissement of La Cité-Limoilou won the award. It was designed by Lemay & associés and built by Garoy construction inc.
In the Public and Institutional Building category, Stade TELUS – Université Laval at 2380 rue du PEPS in the arrondissement of Sainte-Foy-Sillery-Cap-Rouge took the top prize, and was designed by ABCP architecture/Coarchitecture and built by Pomerleau inc.
In the Adaptive Reuse category, Résidence Limoilou at 730 8e Avenue in the arrondissement de La Cité-Limoilou designed by Cloutier Harvey et Lévesques Architectes and built by Sodéroc Développement immobilier ltée & Roche Construction inc. won the award.
In the Signage category, JEF Poissonnerie – Prêt-à-Manger at 223 rue Saint-Joseph Est in the arrondissement of La Cité-Limoilou too the top honour, and was designed by Monsieur Jean-François Mondou/Madame Sylvie Brouillard and built by Madame Sylvie Brouillard/Monsieur Émile Tremblay.
In the Municipal Building category, Aréna Giffard at 3500 rue Cambronne in the arrondissement de Beauport took the prize. The project was designed by Consortium CCM2 (Côté Chabot Morel, architectes)/Côté Leahy Cardas architectes and built by Verreault Construction.
In the Universal Accessibility category, Domaine du Parc Savard at 166 à 210 avenue Bernatchez in the arrondissement of Rivières, designed by Lafond Côté architectes and built by Construction Richard Arsenault won the award.
In the Public Art category, Tout au Long at 330 rue Chabot was recognized; it was designed by Madame Hélène Rochette and built by Cloutier et Chaurette inc.
The Special Jury Prize was given to Stade TELUS – Université Laval at 2380 rue du PEPS in the arrondissement de Sainte-Foy-Sillery-Cap-Rouge, designed by ABCP architecture/Coarchitecture and built by Pomerleau inc.
And lastly, in the Homage category, architect Madame Christine Vallée was honoured.
