Winners of Floornature’s Next Landmark Competition announced

Next Landmark 2013 is the second edition of the international competition organized by architecture and design portal Floornature for new-millennium graduates. For the first time, Floornature announced the winners in a live streaming event, featuring all the competition jury members.

Three winning projects were announced alongside six special mentions by anchor architect Pietro Polidori. Remaining jury members include: Julien De Smedt (JDS Architects), Esteban Suárez (BNKR Arquitectura), Luca Molinari (architect, historian and critic of architecture), Aldo Colonetti (editor in chief of Ottagono), Angelo Maggi (architect and professor at IUAV and IUSVE), Federica Minozzi (CEO of Floornature) and Paolo Schianchi (architect and editor in chief of Floornature). Guest of honour for the evening was Bangladeshi activist architect Rafiq Azam.

In the First Work category, Shoko Murakaji from Japan won first prize for Villa 921, while special mentions were given to Giorgi Khmaladze of Georgia and to Michiya Tsukano of Japan.

In the Research category, Nataly Abramova of Russia took the top prize for Contemporary Art Center: From Collecting to Creation. Special mentions recognized Aries Cheng of Hong Kong and Gabrielle Phillips of Australia.

In the Photography cateogory, Canadian Hugo Soo won first prize for Relationship Between Time, Architecture and Human Emotions. Pedro Gabriel of Portugal and Marco Fogarolo of Italy received special mentions.

The winners of the First Work and Photography categories receive a trip for two to Helsinki for three nights during Helsinki Design Week, and the winner of the Research category will receive a three-month internship at BNKR in Mexico City. All the winning projects and special mentions for each category will also be displayed in an exhibition held at SpazioFMG in Milan from October 2-11, 2013.
