University of Toronto at Mississauga “tops off” Hazel McCallion Academic Learning Centre
The University of Toronto at Mississauga will hold a “topping off” ceremony for the Hazel McCallion Academic Learning Centre on Wednesday, August 31st at 3:00 pm on the lawn between the HMALC construction site and the Communication, Culture and Information Technology building on the UTM campus, 3359 Mississauga Road North.
The “topping off” – a construction milestone when a concrete structure is completed – will feature a ceremonial pouring of the last bucket of concrete for the fourth floor of the centre. The new library, information and communications complex, named after Mississauga’s mayor Hazel McCallion, will include a fully digital environment, Adaptive Technology Centre, Academic Skills Centre and roof garden. The $34-million project designed by Shore Tilbe Irwin and Partners is scheduled to open in September, 2006.
