University of Manitoba Students Win GreenInteriors Student Design Competition

University of Manitoba undergraduate interior design students Tamara Nyysola and Corina Penner took first prize in the inaugural GreenInteriors Student Design Competition, sponsored by Dow BioProducts Ltd. in association with Interior Design magazine. Their entry entitled Sweet Wheat comprised an integrated bed, table and shelving system made from Dow’s eco-friendly WOODSTALK Gold MR fiberboard that is manufactured right in Manitoba. A total of 55 entries were submitted from 14 FIDER-accredited design schools across North America. Judging took place May 1 at the Hotel Fort Garry. "We’re delighted with the recognition this award has brought to the University’s Department of Interior Design in the Faculty of Architecture," Dean of Architecture David Witty said. "It confirms the excellent reputation and high standards of the department, the environmental design program and its students. We commend Dow BioProducts’ initiative to reach out to the design community in this creative way to raise awareness of and challenge young designers in this critically important issue of environmental responsibility in approaches to design and product selection."
