Two weeks until the RAIC Festival in Calgary!

Traditionally, the RAIC Festival is the annual conference for architects across Canada. This year, the RAIC is proud to welcome interior designers to the festivities. The conference focuses on architects’ and interior designers’ contributions to the improvement of today’s world, the built environment, sustainable urban development and social commitment, as well as the importance of design professionals. There will be continuing education courses, social activities, recognition of excellence, and the RAIC College of Fellows convocation. A portion of Festival proceeds will be donated to a local charitable organization, at the discretion of the sponsorship committee.

Between June 3-6, 2015 at the Hyatt Regency Calgary on Centre Street, architects, interior designers, interns, students and associates as well as the general public will gather in Calgary to network, discuss issues related to the practice of architecture and design, celebrate achievements and socialize. A plethora of inspiring continuing education courses, tours and networking events are on offer, as is the President’s Dinner and Gala Awards—a highlight of which is a presentation by this year’s RAIC Gold Medallist Brian MacKay-Lyons.

In a province of big skies and big ideas, the 2015 AAA/RAIC Festival of Architecture theme of (Re)generation + Integration embraces the value of moving beyond singular perspectives to explore opportunities to collaborate, combine, include, participate and amplify traditional norms. (Re)generation stretches beyond sustainability; it imagines architecture and design that restores environmental health, adapts existing buildings and energizes city life. Integration harmonizes building, interiors, landscape and street. It makes spaces that welcome all members of society, and inclusive of the aging population and people with disabilities.
