TSA presents a discussion about diversity and inclusion in the industry
In celebration of Pride Month, the event this Thursday is a cross-industry discussion about diversity and inclusion in AED workplaces.
In celebration of pride month, the Toronto Society of Architects is presenting TSA Exchange | Inclusion in Construction this Thursday, June 24, from 5-6:30 pm EST. The event is a cross-industry discussion about diversity and inclusion in the workplace within the architecture and construction industry.
“Translating a commitment to diversity and inclusion into workplace policies and practices can be a difficult and overwhelming task. Toronto’s architecture, engineering and construction industry is no exception, with unique challenges that might feel daunting to overcome — but these are not challenges we have to face alone,” says the TSA. “Throughout our city and beyond, companies, firms and organizations are running programs and initiatives which we can all learn from as we work together towards making a more inclusive future.”
The event is a cross-industry platform that will bring together different sectors of the AEC industry to discuss inclusion in construction, with the aim of sharing tools and strategies.
The session will hear from organizations working to address disparities and learn about their successes, challenges and lessons learned. After the short presentations, participants will enter into small conversation groups to further delve into strategies to help shape the industry’s future.
The following speakers who will share some of their organization’s experience in addressing inclusion in the workplace include:
- Laura Alexim, Director of People and Culture, Turner Fleischer
- Nicole Monaco, Director of Marketing and Communication, Chandos Construction
- Chris Campbell, Equity and Diversity Representative, Carpenters’ District Council of Ontario
- Russell Pollard, Principal, Framework Leadership (moderator)
The event is free to attend, but registration is required here.
