Toronto’s ROMwalks kick off on May 1
Launched in 1980 by the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM), ROMwalks are one of the best ways to get to know the city of Toronto for tourists and locals alike. Ten different walks will be featured this year, most offered several times during this ROMwalks season. Two of the walks are also offered in French – Necropolis and ROM & its Neighbours. In addition, there will be two ROMwalks PLUS – St. James Cemetery ($10 per person) on Sunday August 28, and Sacred Stones & Steeples, Sunday September 18 ($30 per person). ROMwalk Plus tickets must be reserved in advance.
The walks begin on Sunday, May 1 with a tour of the Danforth, and wrap up on Sunday, September 25 with Whisky, Wharf & Windmill. Some of the other walks on offer include Cabbagetown; Heart of Toronto; Jarvis Street; and Entertainment District.
All ROMwalks take place Sundays at 2:00pm and Wednesdays at 6:00pm and last one and a half to two hours. Look for the blue ROM umbrella at the starting point of each walk. Tours are free to the public and registration is not required except for private group walks and ROMwalks PLUS walks.
