Toronto designers transition to television

A new cast lineup for the fourth season of the popular HGTV series Designer Guys has been announced. Allen Chan, Matt Davis and Anwar Mukhayesh are three of Toronto’s most prolific designers specializing in architectural, interior, landscape and industrial design. All three are founders of Precipice Design Studio, and are responsible for the design of such popular Toronto bars and restaurants such as Lobby, sPaHa and Banzai.

Allen has degrees in architecture and landscape architecture from the University of Toronto and Columbia University, Matt has a degree in architecture from the University of Toronto, and Anwar was educated in mechanical engineering at the University of Western Ontario. Allen and Matt also teach architecture at the University of Toronto, while Anwar moonlights as a successful restaurateur.

"We selected Allen, Matt and Anwar from several hundred candidates across Canada and the US. The call went out to design associations and casting agencies across the continent. These guys bring a tremendous amount of synergy as well as creativity and cutting-edge design to the show," said Mary Darling, Executive Producer of Designer Guys.

Each week, the Designer Guys will work with a different homeowner to overcome a specific design challenge, fusing interior design with architectural, industrial and landscape elements, often incorporating other art influences as well. Viewers will follow Anwar, Allen and Matt as they examine the space, interview the client, devise a plan, collect and construct new furnishings, accent pieces and space redesign. "Our goal with each show is not only to create a unique space for the homeowner, but to make a proactive and positive change in the homeowner’s life," says Mukhayesh.
