Tonight: Toronto Society of Architects Urban Affairs Forum – Transit Architecture

On Tuesday, May 1, 2012, join the Toronto Society of Architects at the next Urban Affairs forum where they will be discussing transit architecture. Recent examples from several cities – including Toronto with the future subway extension of the Spadina line – have elaborated a design philosophy that strives for strong aesthetics and high-quality urban and architectural design. What are the implications for the taxpayers, the city and the transit commission itself with this approach? What more can architecture offer when it comes to a functional place for people to go from one destination to the other?

Guest speakers include Richard Stevens, Architect, SGA-IBI Group Architects; Jim Berry, Architect, HMM; Chris McCarthy, Director, SNC-Lavalin Transportation Division; Eric Turcotte, Architect and Urban Designer, Urban Strategies; and Dylan Reid, Associate Editor, Spacing Magazine. The event will be moderated by Antonio Gomez-Palacio, TSA Executive.

The forum takes place from 6:30p to 8:30pm on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 in the Great Hall of the Arts & Letters Club, located at 14 Elm Street in Toronto.
