The Toronto Society of Architects Launches New Tours for Its 2019 Season
Saturday, June 1 and Sunday, June 2 marks the launch of the 10th season of the Toronto Society of Architects’s (TSA) walking tour program.
This non-profit volunteer-led organization, comprised of architects, professionals from sister disciplines, and Torontonians interested in architecture and urban issues, offers an opportunity to explore the city through the eyes of the people behind its design.

Established in 2009, the TSA’s walking tours celebrate Toronto’s built environment by sharing the stories behind the city’s buildings and landscapes. The tour plays an advocacy role in the city to ensure architecture and design excellence are key considerations in public discussions.
The program has been carefully curated to include a mix of landmarks and underrated locations in six thematic tours highlighting Toronto’s history while touching on issues of contemporary design.
This year’s programming includes the return of long-time favourites, and a set of brand-new tours highlighting the landscapes taking shape across the city.
This year’s new offerings include:
- Art and Architecture on the Spadina Line, showcasing the ambitious architecture and integrated art pieces of Toronto’s subway line.
- Waterfront, exploring the last 40 years of redevelopment of Toronto’s central lakefront and the ambitious plans for its future.
- New Meets Old, uncovering how architects have worked with, added to, and conserved the city’s built heritage, as well as examining the unique challenges and opportunities that arise when dealing with heritage structures.
The TSA’s walking tours run every Saturday, Sunday, and holiday Monday, from the first weekend in June to the first weekend of October.
All tours are two hours in length and cost $15 per person. Children under 12 are free. Click here to learn more, or purchase tickets.
