The Intersection of Art and Architecture in City Building

On Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at EPCOR Centre’s Jack Singer Concert Hall, the City of Calgary Public Art Program and the University of Calgary Faculty of Environmental Design present an evening with world-renowned artist Jaume Plensa and James Barnes, Partner with Foster + Partners, one of the world’s most innovative architecture and integrated design practices.

Opening remarks by Dr. Elizabeth Cannon, President of the University of Calgary will introduce an informative presentation on public art and architecture highlighting the creation of Wonderland and the design of The Bow featuring Plensa and Barnes. A panel discussion moderated by Sarah Iley, Manager of Culture at the City of Calgary will follow with Plensa and Barnes joined by Rollin Stanley, General Manager of Planning, Development and Assessment at the City of Calgary and Dr. Nancy Pollock-Ellwand, Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Design at the University of Calgary.

The event runs from 7:00pm to 9:00pm; doors open at 6:30pm.
