Canada Council calls for submissions for $15K in prizes
The Canada Council for the Arts is calling for submissions for two architecture prizes — The Ronald J. Thom Award for Early Design Achievement and J. B. C. Watkins Award in Architecture.
Established in 1990, friends and colleagues of Ronald J. Thom created the Ronald J. Thom Award for Early Design Achievement in collaboration with the Canada Council for the Arts. The $10,000 prize is given to a practitioner of architecture or an architectural firm. The successful candidate must be in the early stages of a career or practice and must demonstrate both outstanding creative talent and exceptional potential in architectural design.
The J.B.C. Watkins Award in Architecture is offered to a Canadian architectural student wishing to pursue postgraduate studies outside Canada, ideally in Denmark, Norway, Sweden or Iceland. Architecture graduates of a Canadian university, postsecondary art institution or training school can apply for this annual $5,000 scholarship by October 1, 2020.
