Teknion wins two awards in international Good Design competition

Teknion Corporation recently announced that its Dossier collection of executive furniture, and MAST monitor arm and accessories designed by Carl Gustav Magnusson, were among the world’s top 2011 designs in the Good Design competition sponsored by the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design, and the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.

“This year’s Good Design program bestowed the coveted Good Design Award to the most important and influential industrial and graphic designers in the world,” said Christian K. Narkiewicz-Laine, Museum President, The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and chief curator of the program. “This is the singular, international design awards program the entire design and corporate world waits for each year.”

“Winning a pair of Good Design Awards in such a competitive program, in which thousands of designers from around the world enter their most innovative new products, is truly gratifying,” said David Feldberg, President & CEO. “These awards are a tribute to the talents of the teams lead by Carl Gustav Magnusson for MAST and to Teknion’s Vice President of Design Strategy and Research, John Hellwig, for Dossier.”

Dossier is a line of executive furniture characterized by clean, modern design and high-quality materials and construction. Dossier reflects today’s changing functions and preferences while staying relevant to traditional norms. Though it is furniture for one of the most conservative parts of the workplace, Dossier is a response to new thinking and a new image for the private office.

MAST monitor arms and accessories support workplace monitor technology of today while anticipating the ever-changing workplace technology demands of tomorrow, including larger and thinner monitors, and all types and sizes of tablets. Knurled knobs invite touch and enable simple user adjustment without tools. The MAST Tablet Holder fits all screens, irrespective of manufacturer.

Over 500 awards were given in the 2011 competition, representing the work of several thousands of leading manufacturers, corporations, industrial design offices, architects, graphic and packaging designers from over 50 nations. The Good Design Awards honor worldwide design innovation, vision, sustainability and the competitive design edge. The 2011 jury was held at the American Institute of Architects in Los Angeles.
