Green Roofs for Healthy Cities has announced that the 2015 Green Roof and Wall Awards of Excellence are now open for submissions. The Awards will be presented at CitiesAlive: 13th Annual Green Roof and Wall Conference, taking place in New York City from October 5-8, 2015.
For the past 13 years, the Awards of Excellence have acknowledged excellence in innovative and integrative green roof and wall design, and have raised awareness of the multiple benefits that green infrastructure can provide clients and the general public. Submissions are due by June 2, 2015.
There are nine Design Award categories for outstanding green roof and wall projects in North America. The Design Awards are selected by a multidisciplinary judging team that includes architects, landscape architects, engineers and horticulturists. Submissions are evaluated according to a broad range of weighted criteria including aesthetic, economic, functional and ecological components.
The Civic and Research Awards, which celebrate individuals who have made a significant contribution to North American green roof/wall policy and research respectively, are also open for submissions. The deadline for these submissions is July 29, 2015.
The Awards will be presented at a luncheon on October 7, 2015 at CitiesAlive in New York City. The theme of CitiesAlive 2015 is For Resilient People, Communities and Places, and features cutting-edge designs, new technical performance research, innovative policy work, a trade show with industry leaders, and informative professional training and tours.
