Store/Fronts | Faades at the Museum of Canadian Contemporary Art

The National Gallery of Canada at the Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art (MOCCA) series presents this exhibition in Toronto from January 31 to April 19, 2015.

How the store becomes front to an all-powerful global marketplace for which, in the time being at least, the mall remains its congregational epicentre is a theme that runs through the photographs, video and sculptures in this exhibition featuring three important female voices in art today: Vancouver’s Vikky Alexander, and New York-based artists Josephine Meckseper and Jenny Holzer. Together, the works in Store/Fronts force contemplation on contemporary distinctions between public and private life, and the ever-eroding line separating citizens from consumers.

Curated by Jonathan Shaughnessy and Rhiannon Vogl, this exhibition is organized by MOCCA and the National Gallery of Canada.
