Ryerson’s Department of Architectural Science has announced a new Architectural Science Co-operative Education Internship (ASCEI). ASCEI continues the tradition of Ryerson University’s commitment to the development of co-operative education by integrating academic study with application of knowledge in a professional context. As a leading centre for applied education, Ryerson University is recognized for the excellence of its teaching, the relevance of its curriculum, and the success of students in achieving academic and career objectives.
Drawing from an extensive network of local employers, the Architectural Science Co-operative Education Internship will provide top students who have completed their third year of undergraduate study with the opportunity to undertake a 16-month paid work placement, or internship, in an architecture or construction firm. ASCEI will enhance the academic environment, improve relations with the local architectural community, and provide students with a unique opportunity to apply their skills while gaining new insights into the dynamic architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry. In accordance with University, co-operative education, and internship regulations, students’ experiences will be documented and integrated into the academic environment. The first cohort of students will begin their work terms in May 2014.
The co-op students will be a select group of 15-20 third-year students who are available to work for periods of 4, 8, 12, or 16 months.

Jobs for Summer 2014 will be posted the week of January 6, 2014 and the hiring process will continue on a first-come, first-served basis until all students are employed.
Companies that hire a Ryerson Architectural Science Co-op student may be eligible for the Co-op Education Tax Credit www.fin.gov.on.ca/en/credit/cetc/index.html up to $3,000 per 4-month work term.
