ROMwalks walking tours of Toronto begin in May
This year, the Royal Ontario Museum offers 38 free walks of 10 neighbourhoods from May through October 2014.
The themed walks are as follows: Then and Now, Heart of Toronto, Cabbagetown North, The Grange, Parkdale, Yorkville, The Annex, Along the Front, Necropolis, Mount Pleasant Cemetery 1 and Mount Pleasant Cemetery 2.
No advance notice is needed; just show up at the appointed meeting place. All Saturday and Sunday walks start at 2:00pm, and all Wednesday walks begin at 6:00pm. The walks take place rain or shine, and every walk has multiple tour guides. Walks that are offered in French have at least one French speaking tour guide. Meet at the designated spot just before the walk’s start time, and look for the purple umbrella!
Also offered are ROMwalks Plus – three different paid walking tours for a limited number of participants. They are: Whiskey, Wharf & Windmill; Sacred Stones & Steeples; and Cabbagetown South – Old & New. Tickets must be reserved in advance; call 416.586.5799 for information and to reserve tickets.
