Rod Robbie, a member of the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA), has been appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada. The OAA has stated, "as a member of the profession of architecture Mr. Robbie has demonstrated outstanding innovation and exemplary service to Canadians. The OAA congratulates Mr. Robbie on receiving the highest honour for lifetime achievement which can be conferred upon a Canadian." The Order of Canada recognizes that Robbie’s designs include the Canada Pavilion at Expo ’67 and Toronto’s SkyDome and that he has since been the lead architect on similar projects around the globe. His designs have helped to establish the pre-cast building industry in this country and, in the 1960s, he helped lead a project that resulted in a dramatic new approach to constructing schools. Other Canadians in the field of architecture who have received the Order of Canada have included M. Ernest Cormier, O.C., A.J. Diamond, O.C., Frank Gehry, O.C., Jane Jacobs, O.C., Phyllis Lambert, O.C., Raymond Moriyama, O.C., John C. Parkin, C.C. and Ronald J.Thom, O.C., among others.
