Reminder: ULI presents Place-Making: Developing Town Centres, Transit Villages and Main Streets
Taking place from September 10-11, 2007 at the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel, ULIs ninth annual place-making conference will focus on approaches that are being used across North America to support mixed-use place making projects. The conference will draw on Torontos success and will address the challenges inherent in both infill and greenfield place-making. These challenges include: neighbourhood opposition, financing, public/private partnership, changing markets and unfriendly regulatory environments.
Keynote speaker Jonathan Littman, co-author of The Art of Innovation, is lauded as one of the best books on creativity and innovative thinking, will share his thoughts on how the best ideas for creating or improving products or processes come from observations of how people work and play on a daily basis. An additional keynote speaker is Helle Soholt, founding partner of GEHL Architects in Copenhagen, will discuss urban design and architecture.
