RAIC Annual General Meeting

A proposed bylaw amendment on new membership categories was approved at the RAIC Annual General Meeting.

Letter ballots will be sent to all members this summer for confirmation.

New categories

Life Members — after 40 years of RAIC membership or at the discretion of the Board, annual membership dues could be waived. All rights and privileges would be maintained except Life Members would not be eligible for election to office.

Affiliate Members — those involved in the design and construction industry -could indicate they are RAIC Affiliates but could not use the RAIC designation and would not be eligible to vote or serve on the Board.

Student Associates would include those enrolled full-time in a professional degree program in architecture at a Canadian University School of Architecture or in the RAIC Syllabus Program. Student Associates could not use the RAIC designation and would not be eligible to vote or serve on the Board.

International Associates could reside in or outside Canada and have an architectural licence or the equivalent from a non-Canadian licensing authority and a demonstrated standing in the profession in the locale in which they are licensed.

At the discretion of the Board graduates from a foreign school of architecture could become eligible as members.
