Quadrangle Architects unveil design for Jade Waterfront Condominiums
Quadrangle Architects in collaboration with Phantom Developments is pleased to present Jade Waterfront Condominiums. The 38-storey condo is slated for development on Lakeshore Boulevard West at Humber Bay Shores. Jade Waterfront’s slender tower of rippling glass balconies will form a striking image on the Toronto West skyline, and offer residents panoramic views of Lake Ontario and downtown Toronto. The development’s style, amenities and proximity to the waterfront will be ideal for those seeking a resort-like atmosphere.
Rising from a three-storey stone-clad podium is a slender tower defined by the undulating balconies of its northern and southern façades. Inspired by the adjacent lake, the visual waves of the glass balconies will draw energy vertically upwards, making Jade Waterfront a distinctive address on Etobicoke’s former motel strip. Its simple, contemporary design is highlighted by glass balconies, tinted a distinct aqua blue, creating a synergy between the building, Lake Ontario, and the sky. The balconies will also be unusually generous, with many averaging up to 400 square feet.
According to Quadrangle Principal Ted Shore, “The balconies are more than simply aesthetic, they will extend the living space to the outdoors, inviting residents to enjoy the natural environment within reach. Also, their varying depths will provide passive sun shading to the extensively glazed building.”
The three podium levels of the building will feature yoga and fitness studios, a pet-grooming area, a generous, tall lobby and a lounge and entertainment area connected directly with an outdoor patio facing Lake Ontario. A third-floor terrace with an outdoor putting green, a communal garden area, a swimming pool overlooking Lake Ontario will surround indoor dining and other amenities.
To enhance Jade Waterfront’s leisurely atmosphere and its presence within the neighbourhood, the design also includes a sensitively designed public park over its underground garage which connects Jade Waterfront residents to the water, the Martin Goodman and Humber Valley trails, waterfront cafés and marinas. Only minutes from downtown Toronto by bicycle or auto, the site is close to the highways, the streetcar and the Go Train, providing easy access to downtown and the airport. A retreat from the fast pace of the bustling city, Jade Waterfront will offer residents a resort-like atmosphere ideal for a holistic lifestyle.
Jade Waterfront Condominiums is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2015.
