The “Friends of Sustainable Architecture at the Toronto Society of Architects” ([email protected]) is launching Projects Green, the First Annual Exhibition of Sustainable Architecture in Toronto during the Festival of Architecture and Design Month in May 2005.
The travelling exhibition will emphasize the contribution made by Toronto architects and designers including work by some of the best known firms in Canada. The exhibition will feature sustainable projects designed by pioneering Toronto architects and designers. Over 40 displays will cover a variety of projects including schools, colleges, civic centres, office buildings, art barns, government buildings, community centres, science centres, student centres, religious buildings, straw bale homes, rooftop gardens, a mountain bike park and many more. They represent examples of a variety of sustainable features including thermal chimneys, solar controls and passive solar application, clean air, water efficiency and energy efficiency.
The exhibition will be held at the North York Civic Centre from May 9-13, and at Etobicoke City Hall from May 16-22. The exhibition will then reopen to the public at Toronto’s Metro Hall from June 13-20. Visitors are encouraged to vote on their favourite projects during the exhibitions for Viewers’ Choice Awards. Prizes will be given to lucky voters as well.
The Friends of Sustainable Architecture ([email protected]) is a voluntary committee of the Toronto Society of Architects formed to increase awareness of Sustainable Design by organizing a wide range of educational and promotional activities such as tours, exhibitions, lectures, seminars, publications, film series and awards.
