Ongoing study and advocacy can be viewed as the sustenance of practice. On Thursday, October 9, 2014 at 12:00 noon, Winnipeg-based architect Peter Sampson of psastudio will discuss the role of practice to balance study and advocacy for an architecture that directs urban development. He will present a series of recent small-scale projects that have enabled the practice to explore how architecture contributes to infrastructure, how it supports increased density and urban mobility by delivering its ideas about city at an interactive human scale.
psastudio is recognized for practice in urban design, architecture and building research. With a portfolio of public-sector work across Manitoba, psastudio’s clients include local school divisions, the University of Winnipeg, Winnipeg Harvest, the Towns of Swan River and Gillam, and private residential and commercial clients. Searching for a community dialogue on low-impact socially rich places for living, psastudio looks to architecture as an investment in community identity and advocates for healthy, social ecologies.
psastudio is the recipient of a RAIC National Urban Design Award, an AZ People’s Choice Award, a Prairie Design Award of Excellence, a Prairie Wood Design Award, and a Canadian Architect Award of Merit.
Sampson’s presentation takes place at 12:00 noon in the Centre Space of the John A. Russell Building, Faculty of Architecture, University of Manitoba. Lunch will be served at a cost of $5.
