Peter Eisenman exhibition in Italy

This Fantoni-sponsored Contropiede exhibition of the work of New York architect Peter Eisenman will take place from June 18-July 17, 2005 in the Auditorium of Forum Guido Monzani in Modena, Italy. The show opens on Saturday, June 18 at 6:00pm with the architect in attendance.

Eisenman considers this exhibition a chance to explain the philosophic system and methodological premise of his works. The aim is to present his work in a fully comprehensive manner, unlike previously incomplete exhibitions. This is his first real exhibition in Italy, the second in Europe after Vienna.

One of the most world-renowned architects and a member of the "New York Five," Eisenman was included among Kenneth Frampton’s "Five Architects" at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 1969. During his career, he has advanced theoretical discourse in modern architecture. After the opening of his first studio in 1980, he designed important projects such as the Wexner Centre in Columbus, the first deconstructionist monument of the 20th century. His works and essays have been published in such journals as Lotus, Domus and Casabella.
