Pecha Kucha Toronto tomorrow night!
Pecha Kucha Toronto’s fall edition kicks off on Friday, September 30, 2011, coinciding with the opening of the Fall 2011 Architecture Exhibitions at Harbourfront Centre. PechaKucha Night Vol.10 will feature new and emerging design talent, including presenters that are also participating in Twenty + Change 03 at Harbourfront, a biennial exhibition and publication series dedicated to promoting emerging Canadian designers working in architecture, landscape architecture and urban design who are pushing the boundaries of their discipline.
Presenters include: 5468796 Architecture Inc (Sasa Radulovic and Johanna Hurme); Atelier Kastelic Buffey Inc. (Robert Kastelic and Kelly Buffey); Alec Brown Architect (Alec Brown); Idea Tank Design Collective (Andrew Choptiany); McMinn + Janzen Studio (Melana Janzen); Omas (Brian O’Brian); Rural Urban Fantasy Project (Sean Pearson); and We-Designs.Org (Wendy W Fok and Jenny Chow).
So come out for an evening of design inspiration and hear this new generation of designers speak on the theme of “Perspective” and present their innovative ideas and portfolios. Ian Chodikoff, Editor of Canadian Architect, will moderate the event.
Derived from a Japanese term for the sound of conversation (“chit-chat”), PechaKucha is a lightning-speed presentation event for the design community. Presenters each have 20 slides, each shown for 20 seconds, to showcase their projects, ideas and creative design concepts. PechaKucha Night started in Japan in 2003 and now occurs in over 400 locations globally.
Pecha Kucha takes place from 8:00pm-9:30pm on Friday, September 30, 2011 in the Marilyn Brewer Community Space at Harbourfront Centre, located at 235 Queens Quay West. Admission is free, and there is a cash bar.
