Patkau Architects selected to design Presentation House Gallery in North Vancouver
With the support and direction of the City of North Vancouver, Presentation House Gallery has announced the appointment of Patkau Architects to design the Gallery’s new home at the foot of Lonsdale Avenue.
Patkau Architects is a renowned Vancouver studio and one of Canada’s most notable architectural firms. Their buildings have earned national and international accolades, and include such significant landmarks as the Beaty Biodiversity Museum in Vancouver and the new School of Art at the University of Manitoba, currently under construction in Winnipeg. In 2010, they won a prestigious international competition to design onsite cottages at Fallingwater, the Frank Lloyd Wright masterwork in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. Most recently, they have been chosen to design the new Audain Art Museum in Whistler.
The selection of Patkau Architects represents the culmination of a long process led by Presentation House Gallery’s board, staff and facility committee, and is a significant milestone on the road to the realization of the Gallery’s future home. In the coming months, details will be revealed of the Patkaus’ ideas for a major public art gallery on North Shore waterfront, which is adjacent to the Seabus and is highly accessible to all Metro Vancouver residents.
