One of Kind Christmas Show and Sale is now on!

Once again, the wildly popular One of Kind Christmas Show and Sale returns to the Direct Energy Centre at Exhibition Place in Toronto. In its ongoing quest to discover and celebrate Canadian artisans and designers, the 2011 One of a Kind Christmas Show promises to be the best show yet with an ever increasing offering of top-notch talent.

Canada’s national craft show has come a long way since its debut in 1975 to feature today over 800 pre-selected artisans who create original pieces across various key categories such as home décor, jewellery, fashion, food and fine art, to name a few. In its evolution, the One of a Kind Show has attracted a younger audience from artisans to attendees, who are surprised at the calibre of work and often claim “this is not your grandmother’s craft show.” Innovation and design of limitedproduction pieces – handcrafted by a diverse group of Canadians – which are available at one destination twice a year, in winter and spring, encapsulate the show.

“Each season will we shine the spotlight on a select group of artisans to underscore the incredible product in terms of quality and design that we have in Canada,” said Patti Stewart, Director of the One of a Kind Show. “Some of the artists and designers arguably could be regarded as the best in their industry. By buying Canadian, it supports the designers and creating awareness for their collections is just one of the many factors that will help creative people with their businesses.”

The show features over 800 dazzling Canadian artisans and thousands of handmade holiday gifts. Attend DIY workshops, designer seminars, fashion shows and feature exhibits. The One of a Kind Hall of Fame returns, as do the One of a Kind Neighbourhoods, which allow visitors to peruse artisans’ wares in a more efficient and organized manner.

This year’s star lineup includes: chocolatier Odile Chatelain of Odile Chocolat, Toronto; felt artist Lesley-Anne Green of Lesley-Anne Green, Toronto; fashion designer Eve Gravel of Eve Gravel Design, Montreal; fashion designer Sarra Tang of HOI BO, Toronto; textile artist Shannon Adolph of coucou salut, Montreal; and ceramist and glass artist Amélie Lucier & Julien Mongeau of A.J, Montreal.

Not only is there an opportunity to discover artisans for the first time, the One of a Kind Christmas Show is regarded by thousands of show-goers as the “official kick-off” to the holiday shopping season with an array of handmade gifts that one can’t find at the mall. This year the show will run for 11 days, starting on November 24 and wrapping up on December 4, 2011.

The One of a Kind Christmas Show is Canada’s best show and sale of works by over 800 artists, designers and craftspeople.
