OAQ Announces 2021 Architecture Awards of Excellence finalists

Here's a peek at the 25 projects vying for a medal—and for the competition's top prize, the Grand Prix d'Excellence.

The OAQ has announced 25 finalists for its 2021 Architecture Awards of Excellence. The public is invited to cast votes for the People’s Choice Award until March 21st, 2021.

The winning projects, along with the People’s Choice Award, will be unveiled during a virtual gala that on April 1, 2021. The OAQ will also pay tribute to individuals and organizations that have made an exceptional contribution to the profession with its honour awards.

Awarded since 1978 by the OAQ, the Awards of Excellence showcases architectural achievements from the organization’s members. The awards were originally bestowed every two years, and since 2019 have been awarded on an annual basis.

The 2021 Awards of Excellence jury is chaired by architect Jean-Pierre Crousse of Barclay & Crousse Architecture (Paris and Lima). The jury also includes Christiane Germain (co-president of Germain Hôtels), architect Marc Blouin (Blouin Orzes architectes), architect Kim Pariseau (APPAREIL Architecture and winner of the Prix de la Relève 2020) and architect Pedro Ressano Garcia (Ressano Garcia Arquitectos, Lisbonne, visiting professor at the University of Laval School of Architecture).
