OAA’s annual conference coming to Toronto in May
The Ontario Association of Architects’ (OAA) annual conference is returning to Toronto for 2018. Organized around the theme of “Bold By Design,” the three-day conference will take place at downtown’s Metro Toronto Convention Centre and the nearby Delta Hotel in May of this year.
“The architectural issues of the 21st century will require big thinking and radical approaches. We must use the knowledge and skills of our profession – creativity, design thinking and critical analysis—to challenge existing models and develop innovative approaches to complex problems,” the OAA website explains. “Join us as we explore this topic at Conference 2018!”
With the programming for this year’s conference now taking shape, the OAA has announced a list of 2018 sponsors (so far), as well as details of hotel and travel discounts, which are available to early registrants. Bookable until April 30, discounted rooms at the Delta Hotel on Lower Simcoe Street are being offered for the duration of the conference, while various travel discounts from Air Canada, Porter, WestJet, and ViaRail, are also available.
The three-day conference will feature numerous Continuing Education opportunities, as well as tours and social events. Further details of this year’s program will become available in the coming weeks. For now, a well-attended conference can be expected. For context, the last OAA conference to be hosted in Toronto — in 2016 — welcomed some 1,900 attendees. The 2019 annual conference is set to be held in Ottawa.
