On Thursday, November 24 2011, the popular Community Heritage Roundtable in Calgary continues with speakers on the subject of adaptive reuse – conserving old buildings by giving them new uses. An extremely important and interesting topic for heritage conservationists and communities alike, adaptive reuse will be discussed by the following participants:
• Howard Bell, a member of the renovation team that converted a church into Temple B’Nai Tikvah
- John Kerr and Philip Dack, who will speak on plans for the historic National Hotel and Livery Barn in Inglewood
- Shara Rosko, Director of the John Snow House, which has been converted to a resource centre by the New Gallery
- Reid Henry, President & CEO of cSpace Projects, who will discuss his plans to turn the sandstone King Edward School into an “Arts Incubator”
Admission is free, and there will be refreshments and plenty of time for mingling and networking.
This event takes place at Temple B’Nai Tikvah, located at 900 47th Avenue SW. Doors open at 6:30pm, and the event runs from 7:00pm- 9:00pm.
