A new First and Business Class lounge has opened in Vancouver International Airport with panoramic and runway views. Vancouver is the first North American city to experience the airline’s award-winning redesign. At 500 square metres and with an investment of more than $1 million, it is twice the size of the airline’s previous lounge.
"This major investment in the Vancouver lounge is a reflection of the importance of this market to Cathay Pacific, and illustrates the kind of product that sets the airline apart from its competitors," says Philippe Lacamp, Vice President Canada, Cathay Pacific Airways.
Based on the design concepts of UK architect John Pawson, who created the award-winning "The Wing" and "The Pier" lounges at the airline’s Hong Kong International Airport hub, the new Vancouver lounge includes premium marble and wood finishes, softly illuminated rice paper-lined glass walls, and Cathay Pacific’s signature seven-metre "Long Table."
A unique feature of the new Vancouver lounge is the spectacular view from a panoramic window running the entire length of the lounge, which looks directly onto the Cathay Pacific aircraft readying for departure, the airport runway and beyond to the coastal mountains and Gulf Islands. The lounge also offers passengers seven "Personal Living Spaces," private and comfortable areas with full broadband access, equipped with ample laptop connections for broadband, modem and wireless Internet access. Additionally, there are areas to read, relax, drink, dine and watch television.
