Moshe Safdie appointed as Companion to the Order of Canada
Governor General of Canada Adrienne Clarkson has announced 74 appointments to the Order of Canada, including three promotions within the Order.
The new appointees include two Companions (C.C.), 17 Officers (O.C.), 54 Members (C.M.) and one Honorary Companion. These appointments are in effect as of October 29, 2004. Recipients will be invited to accept their insignia at a ceremony to be held at a later date. Along with Safdie, the other Companion is film director Denys Arcand.
The Order of Canada was established in 1967 to recognize outstanding achievement and service in various fields. Three different levels of membership – Companion, Officer and Member – honour people whose accomplishments vary in degree and scope.
