MADE presents Radiant Dark 2010: Assets & Values

This annual exhibition takes place from January 21-24, 2010 on the ground-floor lobby of Commerce Court West, located at 199 Bay Street in the heart of Toronto’s financial district.

Radiant Dark is a modern Canadian Design exhibition featuring the work of 32 design studios. Shaun Moore and Julie Nicholson of MADE have conceived Radiant Dark as a series of independent curated exhibitions. The 2010 theme of Assets & Values is explored through the fresh vision of contemporary Canadian designers, makers, architects, artists and craftspeople.

In conjunction with her installation for Radiant Dark, MADE announces the launch of Kathryn Walter/FELT’s new Spool Stools. A grouping of FELT Spool Stools will show variation in tone and thickness providing a range in form. Serving as both sculpture and furniture, they give the effect of a stock of material, an array of roll ends. Walter proposed this stool to OMA Office for Metropolitan Architecture in New York as a solution for seating in the studios of the Architecture Department at Paul Milstein Hall, Cornell University. The stools will be arranged as seating areas during the exhibition.

Radiant Dark is free and open to the public. The exhibition is open from 9:00am to 7:00pm on Thursday and Friday, from 11:00am to 7:00pm on Saturday, and from 11:00am to 6:00pm on Sunday.

A Walk & Talk takes place on Sunday, January 24 from 12:00 noon to 1:00pm. During this hour, eight Canadian designers speak about their work during an informal guided tour and discussion of the exhibition.
