Living Steel International Competition for Sustainable Housing Call for Expressions of Interest
The purpose of the competition is to develop innovative approaches to meet sustainable housing needs. Underlying the competition is a desire to address the economic, environmental and social aspirations of a growing world population. Over the course of five years, two invited international competitions for sustainable housing are being undertaken. One or more locations will be chosen for each of the competitions, with the winning submission for each location being built. The buildings will be designed to advance the concept of sustainable housing, demonstrating the value and performance of steel in meeting the economic, environmental and social criteria demanded in each location. Winner of the first place prize will receive 50,000. An honorarium of 10,000 will be given to each invited competitor, up to 10 per location.
December 1, 2005 is the deadline for expressions of interest. Firms invited to participate will be notified by January 6, 2006. The deadline for receipt of competition entries is April 14, 2006. The winner will be announced from June 19-23, 2006.
