Living Box: Prefabricated Living Units international design competition
This international design competition invites architects, engineers, designers, professionals and students to design the Living Box, a prefabricated living unit. The Living Box must be transportable by road or air, and must face the challenge of complying with contemporary lifestyle both in terms of comfort and architectural language. Two types of prefabricated units may be submitted: a living unit as a preassembled block or blocks, or a living unit as an assemblage of light prefabricated small elements.
A jury consisting of designers, suppliers and technicians familiar with prefab housing throughout Europe will award three prizes according to final ranking. The first prize is 3,000 and a complete software suite by ACCA Software: Autorapidus (CAD), EDILUS (Structural Analysis), PRIMUS SYSTEM (Quantity Surveying). The second prize is 1,000, and the third prize is 500. The registration deadline for the competition is November 30, 2005. Registration is free.
