Jenny Bergstrm speaks on “Poetics and Politics in Design”
The M.C. McCain Design Speaker Series at the Ontario College of Art & Design presents this lecture on Thursday, March 12 at 6:45pm in the Auditorium of the Ontario College of Art & Design, located at 100 McCaul Street in Toronto.
Jenny Bergström is a designer and researcher currently based in London and Stockholm. Since graduating with an MFA from the Textile department at Konstfack, University of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm, she has been working at the Design Research Unit at the Interactive Institute, a Swedish experimental research institute that combines expertise in art, design and information technology to perform world-leading applied research.
Bergström also works with Troika, a London-based multidisciplinary art and design practice, while maintaining her work as a teacher at Konstfack’s Interdisciplinary Studies department. In her work, Bergström investigates how design can both be inspired and fundamentally improved by incorporating methods from fields such as crafts, science, writing and fine arts. In 2008, she was featured by Droog Design at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan.
