Internationally celebrated designer Jonathan Adler talks irreverent luxury and life at IDSwest 2015
Designer Jonathan Adler appears at IDSwest on Saturday September 26, 2015 at 1:00pm to speak about his philosophy of “irreverent luxury,” and his journey from production potter to international lifestyle brand. Adler is a highly sought-after creative force and the mind behind a line of decorative objects, timelessly chic furniture, and modern housewares with retail locations in cities around the globe including San Francisco, New York and Los Angeles.
IDSwest is pleased to be featuring a unique Jonathan Adler pop-up shop showcasing his latest collection, including a selection of furniture and decorative accessories designed to style your home with modern glamour. Visitors are invited to browse the shop, choose must-have exclusive items, and purchase right on the show floor.
Adler’s talk and all other speaker events are included in the price of IDSwest admission.
“I’m so excited to be speaking at IDSwest,” said Jonathan Adler. “The design, the people, and the show are all fab. I can’t wait to see the show and to talk about my favourite subject—me.”
In the early 1990s, Jonathan Adler launched his company to create pottery he couldn’t find anywhere else. In 1993, Adler caught his first big break, selling a collection of pots to Barneys New York. Five years later he opened his first namesake store in SoHo. In the years since, and with a motto of “If your heirs won’t fight over it, we won’t make it,” Adler has expanded his offerings to include bedding, furniture, decorative objects, textiles and accessories, and interior design. The international brand now boasts over 25 stores around the globe, with covetable items that exude energy, glamour, irreverence and wit. Fusing Mid-Century Modernist shapes, bold modern colour, and punchy graphics, Adler’s designs possess timeless appeal.
IDSwest takes place September 24-27, 2015 at the Vancouver Convention Centre West. Advance tickets and weekend passes are available now online at a reduced rate, and full-price tickets will be available at the door during IDSwest. For more information, please visit www.idswest.com.
