On May 3, 2014, Architecture for Humanity Toronto initiates a series of lectures and workshops titled “Incremental Strategy for Vertical Neighbourhoods in Toronto,” based upon the work of European architect Filipe Balestra. His participation involves with a free opening public lecture followed by a design workshop for students and young professionals.
The first workshop held on May 3rd will be dedicated to Thorncliffe Park, as we seize the opportunity of the establishment’s new zoning type (RAC). It will take place at the Ryerson Architecture Building (located at 325 Church Street in Toronto) from 9:30am to 5:30pm. Towards the end of the day, a final and formal discussion will take place with representative(s) of the Thorncliffe community and other professionals engaged in the Tower Renewal process.
Architecture for Humanity Toronto and Filipe Balestra invite students, alumni, and young professionals from various backgrounds to attend a lecture and workshop on creating feasible projects that answer to the needs and dreams of the community. Participants will explore architectural developments of high-rise buildings in which residential and commercial activities, allowed by the RAC, will find a new balance benefiting all stakeholders (owners, tenants, community, and eventually the city itself)
