The Poetics of West Coast Architecture in West Vancouver Exhibit and Lecture Series

West Vancouver possesses some of Canada’s most celebrated modernist architecture. From October 1 to November 12, architects, historians and other admirers of the art will have an opportunity to explore this phenomenal period of building through a multi-venue exhibit entitled The Poetics of West Coast Architecture in West Vancouver, which summarizes a modernist architecture of meaning and delight with projects both well-known and others revealed for the first time. The exhibit shows at the Gallery at the West Vancouver Library from October 1-31; the Ferry Building Gallery from October 4-November 12; and the Silk Purse Gallery from October 11-November 30.

The evening presentations are free and run from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at the Ferry Building Gallery located at 1414 Argyle Avenue in West Vancouver. Topics and speakers include:

October 12: Barry Downs MAIBC presents The Evolution of West Coast Modernism in West Vancouver

October 19: Brian Hemingway MAIBC presents One Person’s Emotional Approach to West Coast Architecture

November 9: Abraham Rogatnick, retired architect, presents Building a Beautiful Life: the variety of ways that people have created their homes and gardens as their personal versions of paradise
