Luminosity – the Art of Painting with Light at the AIBC Architecture Centre Gallery
Vancouver’s Architecture Centre Gallery is proud to host Luminosity – the Art of Painting with Light, which features stained glass masters Laura and John Gilroy, who have honed their glass-painting skills in Britain and have recently relocated to Vancouver. Their works now appear in both secular and sacred buildings in Britain and beyond. This exhibition runs from May 11 to June 15, 2006.
“Stained glass, by its inclusion in the fabrication of a building, is not just a work of art; it adds atmosphere and colour to its surroundings in a way that I feel no other medium can,” says Laura Gilroy. In practice, the Gilroys believe that stained glass is important to architecture because they feel the ambience and colour that the medium provides to buildings is incomparable.
The Architecture Centre Gallery is open Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm. Admission to the gallery is free.
