Green Inspiration: The Next Generation of Homes at the next Sustainable Buildings Breakfast
This event takes place on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at Autodesk Canada, located at 210 King Street East in Toronto. Registration begins at 7:15am, and the session runs from 8:00am to 9:00am.
The session will take a deeper look into home building innovations sparked by the CMHC EQuilibrium Homes project, a national competition. EQuilibrium challenged Canada’s building community to design and construct scalable, marketable residential homes with superior environmental performance. Under the spotlight will be Minto’s Inspiration Eco-Home, a net-zero demonstration residence that is currently under construction in Manotick, Ontario.
Minto’s Andrew Pride, P.Eng., LEED AP, will speak to the process through which the Inspiration Eco-Home was realized and reflect on how the development community is attempting to “mainstream” green building design in residential homes. Pride is the Vice President of the Minto Green Team and Vice Chair of the Canada Green Building Council.
Topics for discussion include:
* the role of collaboration and leadership in the design process
* commercializing green houses – selling inspiration to the public
* evaluating and selecting green approaches and technologies in inspiration
The Sustainable Buildings Breakfast series is designed to provide building industry professionals with best practices, and go-to-market strategies for green building by highlighting best in class initiatives and Canadian green building leaders. Building from the annual Green Building Festival, these sessions continue the drive to higher-performance buildings.
The event is free for SBC members.
