Frank’s Drawings: Eight Museums by Gehry
This exhibition runs from February 18-June 17, 2006, and is curated by Larry Richards, professor at the Faculty of Architecture, Landscape Architecture and Design at the University of Toronto. The show will be devoted entirely to Frank Gehry’s drawings which span 25 years from 1979 to 2004. Forty-nine original pen-on-paper drawings of eight museum projects will be featured, as will a selection of Gehry’s sketchbooks from the late 1970s and early 1980s, along with an array of telephone-pad/thumbnail sketches never before shown. A unique, 3-D “wire drawing” commissioned by Gehry for the University of Toronto Art Centre show will also be displayed.
Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for seniors, and is free for all students and University of Toronto faculty and staff.
Richards will also deliver a lecture entitled Frank Gehry’s RadicalCommon Space on Thursday, February 16, 2006 at 4:30 pm, University College, Room 140, University of Toronto, 15 King’s College Circle. Please RSVP to hold a seat. For more information, call 416-978-1838 or visit www.utoronto.ca/artcentre.
