Six housing initiatives have received awards from the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC). At a two-day forum entitled Affordable Housing Innovations, fourteen finalists presented their innovations and how they might be applied in their communities. An independent selection committee comprised of housing experts from across Canada chose Colin Munroe, Architect from Groupe CDH of Montreal in the Concept and Design category; La Societe d’habitation et de developpemnt de Montreal in the Process and Management category; Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte from Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, Ontario for the Finance and Tenure category; Options for Homes Non-Profit Corp. of Toronto also for Finance and Tenure; Quint Development Corp. of Saskatoon for Process and Management and The Working Centre of Kitchener, Ontario for Process and Management. The jury made eight honourable mentions as well.
