Heritage Toronto Awards nomination deadline approaches

The Heritage Toronto Awards celebrate outstanding contributions in the promotion and conservation of Toronto’s history and heritage by professionals and volunteers. You can submit a nomination for the 40th annual Heritage Toronto Awards in the following categories:

*William Greer Architectural Conservation and Craftsmanship: honours building owners for excellence in the restoration or adaptive reuse of a heritage building (projects of all sizes will be considered)

*Book: for a non-fiction book about Toronto’s archaeological, built, cultural or natural heritage published in 2013

*Short Publication: celebrates print and online articles and booklets about Toronto’s history published in 2013.

*Media: recognizes production projects such as films, videos, websites and apps

*Community Heritage Award: cash prize awarded to volunteer-based organizations for a significant activity that promotes or protects Toronto’s heritage

The deadline for nominations is May 16, 2014 at 4:30pm.

The awards will be presented in October 2014 at a gala event that combines the awards ceremony with the annual William Kilbourn Memorial Lecture, which is named for William Kilbourn, an academic, writer, politician, mentor and champion of the arts and humanities who personified the richness of life in Toronto. In his memory, a speaker is chosen each year who will reflect his passion and dedication to our city.
