Hamilton’s Design Hope set to launch the 5th Annual charity auction for the homeless
Design Hope–the charitable initiative of Hamilton’s design communitywill be launching its fifth annual art auction on September 15th. Since 2001, Design Hope has raised approximately $88,000 for Out of the Cold–Hamilton’s winter resource for the homeless that last year offered food and shelter to more than 1,200 residents. Design Hope has been such a success that it has recently spawned a similar Design Hope group in Toronto. This year, dozens of artworks that interpret ‘home’ will be auctioned. Contributions have been made by prominent artists and architects which include: Simon Frank, whose current outdoor installation at the Mississauga Art Gallery; Jane Adeney who will be having an upcoming solo exhibition at the Hamilton Art Gallery; graphic artist Will Rueter; and John Terpstra, craftsman and poet whose work has been nominated for a Governor General’s Award.
This year’s goal is to raise $40,000 for Out of the Cold with a launch on September 15 at the Transit Gallery, 230 Locke Street South, Hamilton. For more information, please contact Cheryl Paterson at 905-628-0118 or visit the Design Hope website at www.designhope.ca
