Hair of the Dog: Brunch with Marcel Wanders
According to Wikipedia, “hair of the dog” is a colloquial expression in the English language predominantly used to refer to alcohol that is consumed with the aim of lessening the effects of a hangover. The expression originally referred to a method of treatment of a rabid dog bite by placing hair from the dog in the bite wound.
On Saturday, May 4, 2013, attend the inaugural DX Hair of the Dog Brunch featuring an intimate talk with internationally acclaimed designer Marcel Wanders. Wanders is a product and interior designer who drew international recognition for his Knotted Chair produced by Droog Design in 1996. His work is ubiquitous; he designs for leading international companies such as Flos, Alessi, Puma, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, MAC Cosmetics, Cappellini, B&B Italia, Moroso and Target. Wanders also designs for architectural projects, such as the Mondrian South Beach hotel in Miami, the Villa Moda store in Bahrain and the Andaz Amsterdam. In addition to running his studio, Wanders is co-founder and Artistic Director of the successful design label Moooi (2001).
His work can be found in such significant museum collections as MoMA New York, The Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, and the V&A Museum, London. Wanders has further published numerous books and is extensively profiled in the global media, appearing in such publications as the New York Times, Domus, The Financial Times and Wallpaper magazine.
The event takes place at the Design Exchange in Toronto, and runs from 11:00am to 1:30pm; the talk begins at 11:30am.
