The Design Exchange (DX) announces it first national design conference this October 12-14, 2005. This will be presented in partnership with the Ontario College of Art & Design and the Rotman School of Management. The conference will be held at various locations within the DX, OCAD, and the Rotman School of Management. The conference occurs over four days and includes sessions where all attendees will interact and learn from each other, as well as benefit from specific streams of interest. 500 attendees are expected with presentations from over 70 individuals.
This conference, the first ever hosted by the DX, will explore the role of design in contemporary culture. Specifically, the sessions will be divided into three streams. Speakers will focus on issues of design education, design practice and design as an innovative business strategy and the status of the designed object in public culture.
The DX invites designers, design educators from across disciplines, business leaders, engineers, museum and heritage professionals, scholars, collectors and interested observers to submit paper and presentation proposals that address critical issues of the conference and which seek to explore the relationships between these groups.
